Urgent repair of dosing screw
The Challenge
- Resolve production shutdown a.s.a.p.
- Screw with special windings over 50% of the screw are worn out and broken off
- Pieces of propeller blades broken out
- Shaft journals are worn
- Material cracks due to thickness reduction
The Solution
- Removal of existing pieces and damaged spiral
- Making and welding new spiral (round dia. 20 mm)
- Straightening of spiral and screw
- Repair of pipe in the area of the holes of the coupling
- Repair of shaft journal
Production profits
- Using various techniques, the repair was carried out in a very short time
- Based on the existing screw, a proposal was made for a new and more wear-resistant screw by applying a Durallco® coating
- In case of wear and tear, this coating can be reapplied which, in a preventive policy, will extend the life of the screw indefinitely.
